Dry Needling

Targeted treatment. Better movement. A path forward.

Myofascial tension, pain, and movement restrictions can make it harder to do the things you enjoy. Dry needling is a specialized treatment technique that uses thin, sterile needles inserted into specific muscles and tissues to address certain musculoskeletal symptoms and support improved movement. Although it uses similar needles, dry needling differs from acupuncture in its clinical approach and application.

At Natural Resilience, dry needling is available as both a standalone service and a treatment option within physical therapy sessions. Each session is tailored to your symptoms, needs, and goals. Whether you're dealing with persistent muscle tension, pain, post-workout soreness, or movement limitations, treatment begins with understanding what you're experiencing and determining whether dry needling may be an appropriate option.

What Can Dry Needling Help With?

Dry needling may be beneficial for a variety of musculoskeletal conditions and symptoms, including:

  • Muscle pain, tension, and myofascial trigger points

  • Muscle strains and activity-related discomfort

  • Tendinopathies

  • Mobility restrictions and movement limitations

  • Certain neck, back, hip, shoulder, and joint pain

  • Headaches

  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) symptoms

  • Certain nerve-related symptoms

Dry needling may also be used to support recovery following exercise or other physical activity. Its effectiveness varies depending on the condition and individual, and it isn't the right treatment for every concern.

Do You Offer Dry Needling Outside the Pelvic Region?

Absolutely! Although Natural Resilience specializes in pelvic health, dry needling can be used to address appropriate musculoskeletal concerns throughout the body. Treatment may focus on areas such as the neck, shoulders, back, hips, and legs, depending on your symptoms and goals.

What to Expect

Treatment involves inserting very thin, sterile monofilament needles into selected muscles or tissues. You may experience a brief ache, twitch, or other muscle sensation during treatment. Temporary soreness afterward is common.

When appropriate, dry needling may be paired with electrical stimulation, which delivers a gentle electrical current through the needles to further stimulate the targeted tissues, bringing improved blood flow and calming the associated nerves to reduce pain.

Before beginning, we'll discuss your symptoms, goals, relevant health history, and any questions or concerns you have. Your comfort, informed consent, and individual needs will guide the session.

Is Dry Needling Right for You?

You don't have to simply work around pain or let discomfort keep you from the activities you love. Dry needling may be one option to help address your symptoms and support your movement goals.
